What is a Small Group ?
We believe that this is the place where significant life change occurs, where real life and real issues are discussed. This is the environment where we celebrate the successes and good times of life, as well as comfort one another during the tough and disappointing times. It is a place to be encouraged, equipped and challenged to become a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
Why don’t we just stick to Sunday school?
Our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We fell that this is best done in a true small group environment. There are several reasons why we think small groups work better than adult Sunday school.
- Not having adult Sunday school helps our members participate in our “invest and invite” evangelism strategy.
- Home meetings provide safe predictable environments where no one slips through the cracks, People benefit form the consistency and accountability of small groups.
- By participating in small groups outside of the regular Sunday morning schedule, adults are free to serve in a ministry area on Sunday morning.
How Does the Community Group Stay in Touch with New Beginnings?
Your Community Group leader will take on several roles. Along with acting as a facilitator and motivator for discussion, the leader will act as a liaison and will remain in constant contact with the Community Group Leader. This is our way of keeping up with attendance, prayer requests and personal situations that may need further attention. The leader will also be looking for an apprentice during their leadership role. The group leader and Community Group Director will then decide together on further use of the apprentice in other Community groups.
How Long Does a Community Group Last ?
Community groups will form and immediately commit to meet for a minimum of twice a month for 18-24 months. If your group decides to meet during the summer your group will last 18 months. If your group decides to take the summer off then your group will last 24 months. However, we will also offer a starter group, which is an introductory step into group life that lasts approximately eight weeks. At the end of eight weeks, the group members can decide to continue as a community group and extend their commitment, or they can dissolve to find other group members. Your group decides the length of time that your group meets together.
